My heritage language has never caused me problems in school. The only thing that I can really think of is when I would be on my phone talking to my parents, and speaking in Arabic. My friends didn’t really care and thought it was cool that I could speak another language. But sometimes I would see some people give me like dirty looks for talking in Arabic. Like I don’t really care, it’s just a little mean. Me and my cousins speak in Arabic all the time, and we even sometimes practice with each other. The church we go to is half in Arabic, so I use it there too. I have received some dirty looks in public when speaking to my parents sometimes, but they are not that frequent.
