My heritage language has been beneficial in the courses I’ve taken. As someone who has studied both my heritage language and the larger geographic area in which it is practiced, my language skill is largely an asset. It has given me a much stronger foundation and allowed me to test into advanced courses more quickly. It has been a benefit to my educational experience. My heritage language allows me to communicate with others easily. I have used in in both professional and academic settings. It has benefited me professionally, as it opens me up to positions seeking bilingual applicants. I have used it in multiple job postings, and it is again of great benefit to me to practice my heritage language.
