It has made it easier for other Polish people to want to be friends with me. However, I find a shared language to be a strange sole reason to want to initiate a friendship, since I do not otherwise have traditional Polish values. So, I do not actually have Polish friends, despite Polish people targeting me for friendship. It has been somewhat helpful (hardly, but more helpful than not, I suppose) in making professional connections, because other Polish people want to network with me. I am more open to using my Polish heritage to make professional connections than I am to make personal connections, so this has worked in my favor in 1-2 instances.
