My heritage language allows me to talk to people outside of the U.S. and interact with my family and family friends more. My parents know many other Koreans in our hometown and being able to know my heritable language allows me to speak to them and not feel like an outsider. Now in my Korean classes, I feel more confident talking to my parents’ friends and being able to speak to adults at my Korean church.
