Living an a predominantly Latino community growing up, it was very helpful. And in my chosen career field is has been an asset (I am an educator). Yes, it helps me to connect with people – more so. I know many other bilingual people and we have shared experiences growing up. I am also able to help others, at grocery store for example – if they are having a hard time communicating.
