I don’t have any really notable examples, but when learning Spanish, I think already knowing Arabic gave me a leg up because some vocabulary words are similar, and overall I think knowing Arabic made me feel confident in learning other languages because it is difficult to start with. Knowing Arabic is definitely useful when I want to talk to my parents’ friends or my family abroad. I learned Arabic increasingly as I got older, and now I speak to my aunt in Arabic almost entirely, even though when I was younger I was less knowledgeable and more timid to speak. I think part of this transition that helped me increase my language was listening to Arabic music and podcasts.
