In school, there was another student who spoke the same language as me. I enjoyed having a friend that knew the same language. Although we did not speak it as much during school, we were able to connect at a different level. We understood each others’ backgrounds easier which allowed us to connect more. A time that my heritage language has helped is at my job. While I was working, I had customers come in speaking my heritage language. Because I knew the language, I was able to assist those customers. It made my job easier as well for the customers.
