It’s been nice to use it with other Russians that I find.
It’s good to know heritage speaking friends. I do not have a negative experience because of my heritage language and culture. Being a bilingual speaker is a great experience to know both language and culture. I am proud of myself handling two languages.
In first grade, I had difficulty differentiating English from Spanish language. Therefore, I had to be taken out separately in order to have mini classes on knowing how to differentiate both languages. This was actually helpful because it helped me improve both of my languages and I can personally say that I am pretty proficient with both now. It has affected my experience at church because I learned all my prayers & such in my HL rather than English. So, now that I am away from home and in the Champaign community, there is not much Spanish masses available. Therefore, I tend to feel weird when entering a church that primarily utilizes English rather than Spanish. It has been a bit of a problem in terms of maintaining my religion here on campus since I am comfortable with Spanish only masses.
